The medical management of the "Dr. Juan Vega Méndez" Polyclinic of the Social Security Fund (CSS) in the district of San Carlos has incorporated new specialized laboratory tests. This measure aims to stop sending samples to other healthcare units.
"This is a help that Social Security provides us to perform these special tests," said the polyclinic's management.
With the adoption of this measure, insured and uninsured patients visiting this polyclinic will be able to get their test results in less time.
During the last quarter of 2025, the laboratory of this polyclinic has processed 10,872 special tests. Of these, 6,960 were for insured patients and beneficiaries, and 3,912 for uninsured individuals.
With these new tests, the CSS reaffirms its commitment to bringing advanced diagnostic services closer, strengthening comprehensive care, and improving the quality of life for the residents of San Carlos.
Alicia Martínez, a resident of El Valle de Antón, described the initiative as "magnificent because we are people from the countryside."
Among the new tests incorporated are: thyroid panel, vitamin B12, valproic acid, parathyroid hormone, insulin, cortisol, and female hormones, among others.
